Review: Corazzo 5.0 Female Textile Jacket

Corazzo 5.0 Female Textile Jacket – Rated 8.5/10

Protection Effectiveness – 10
The 5.0 had significant protection effectiveness, I felt like a soldier of the streets in it. The armor was CE approved and was located in all the right places. The CE back protector was one of the most heavy-duty I had ever seen in a female jacket, and I do mean EVER. The zipper was anything but flimsy and was easy to open and close.  The textile shell was thick and rough, and the abrasion resistance was on the higher scale of what I have felt and seen in the past.

Comfort – 6
Although I did not get a chance to break the jacket in properly, after only a few rides, the jacket was still somewhat stiff, as all new jackets are. I believe the quality of the textile would make it the kind of jacket that has a longer break-in time than others.  No complaint on the safety factor, but it might be distracting to have such a stiff jacket at first.  The collar and cuffs were lined in fleece which was a huge plus, no chafing on my neck or wrists whatsoever.

Style - 8
In pictures, the jacket is cute and comes in nearly every color imaginable. It is a little plain for my taste, but for many riders, it’s got just enough spunk. The A-symmetrical stripe design is very unique, a huge plus in my book! The female friendly cut gave enough room for my chest and hips without being bulky or awkward. The Spandura sides were impressive, and let the jacket literally conform to my waist. It looked great on me, and even covered my lower back when riding a sport bike. The best part about the look aspect of the jacket was the visibility it created at night.  The reflective stripe lit up my entire upper body and made it very easy to see me from all directions.  Extra visibility at night is definitely a huge plus, and adds to the safety aspect as much as the style.

Function - 10
The jacket had several pockets with zipper closures to stash things like my license, phone, some cash, and a chapstick with room to spare. Because the textile was so thick, it kept me surprisingly warm even in the cool air at night.  If I had been caught in the rain, I am sure the jacket would have kept me dry long enough to get to a covered area. It didn’t let the wind cut through me like other textile jackets, and it definitely did its job at keeping me covered while on the bike. I felt very safe riding around in the Corazzo 5.0.
