Review: Shift Racing Envy Female Textile Jacket

Shift Racing Envy Female Textile Jacket – Rated 8/10

Protection Effectiveness – 7
The Envy has a decent amount of protection built in to its sexy exterior. The armor is CE approved and is located right where it needs to be. However, there is no back protection beyond a thin foam pad, so that was a disappointment. The zipper is heavy-duty and I would trust it in a crash.  The textile shell is thin and slick, made from 100% polyester, and the abrasion resistance is medium, somewhere between lighter mesh and thicker cordura.

Comfort – 8
I have worn the jacket several times and have felt like a vixen since the very first time. There was almost no break-in time, and the jacket fit like a glove.  There are zippers located on the rear hip area to allow the jacket to expand over an inch on both sides. I wouldn’t mind a little extra room for the ladies in the chest area, but the cut was definitely not too slim for a curvy girl like me. The collar is soft and comfortable, not too harsh on my neck at all. The ventilation is phenomenal, perfect for summer riding.

Style - 8
In pictures, the jacket is amazing and comes in several cool patterns. It is very unique, to say the least, with bright colors and bold print to catch anyone’s eye. A few extra inches down the back would keep my skin from being exposed. The arms are the perfect length for an aggressive sport bike stance. It looks so good on me, and matches my bike perfectly. The best part about the look aspect of the jacket was the visibility it created during the day. It is so busy it makes anyone who wears it very conspicuous and easy to see.  Reflective piping would be a great addition to an upgraded version.

Function - 10
The jacket has several pockets with zipper closures to stash things like my license, phone, some cash, and a chapstick with room to spare. Because the textile is thin, it kept me cool during the day and turned a bit chilly as soon as the sun went down.  I did get caught in the rain in it, and the jacket did not keep me dry long enough to get to a covered area, but did keep me from freezing in the wind and rain. It definitely did its job at keeping me covered while on the bike. I felt very sexy riding around in the Shift Envy.
